Parental Counselling
At the different stages of parenting, one may feel overwhelmed or challenged by a child’s problematic behaviour. During these times, it can be useful to consider parental counselling. A psychologist can help the parents think together about the best way to manage the behaviour, which can allow the child to develop life skills and good judgement with the support of the parental unit. These sessions attempt to assist parents and caregivers to:
- Understand their child’s emotional world by learning to read emotional needs
- Support their child’s ability to successfully manage emotions
- Enhance the development of their child’s self-esteem
- Honour the innate wisdom and desire for their child to be secure.
