Once the initial assessment is complete and a treatment plan has been agreed upon, you will be assigned a regular, dedicated time slot each week. Consistent attendance is of utmost importance for therapy progress and optimal outcomes. It is essential to note that missed or cancelled sessions will be charged at the full session rate, as we reserve a special time specifically for you each week. Unfortunately, appointment changes or refunds for non-attended sessions cannot be accommodated, as this may disrupt the continuity of your therapy and the availability of that time slot for other clients.
However, I understand that extenuating circumstances may arise that could affect your ability to attend a scheduled session. In such cases, it is crucial to discuss the situation directly with me.
In order to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the child’s developmental history and provide an opportunity for parents to gain insight into their child’s experiences, the initial few sessions are conducted on a one-on-one basis with the parents. During this time, I will attentively gather pertinent information while addressing any concerns or queries the parents may have. This phase is also an invaluable opportunity for the parents to become acquainted with me, establishing a sense of trust and familiarity.
Following these initial sessions, I will then commence the assessment process with the child, conducting approximately three to five assessment sessions. These sessions are thoughtfully designed to assess various aspects of the child’s development, allowing me to gain a deeper understanding of their unique needs and strengths.
Once the assessment sessions are completed, a feedback session will be scheduled. During the feedback session, both the parents and the child will be present. It’s important to note that the child’s session content remains confidential, creating a safe and trusting space for their individual experiences to be honoured.
Before your first session, there is no specific preparation required. However, it can be helpful to come with an open mind and a willingness to engage in the assessment process. Remember, the initial assessment is a two-way process, and it’s essential for you to feel comfortable and confident when working with me.
Usually, you will have three to five clinical assessment sessions and then I am able to provide a bespoke treatment plan. We will have regular reviews in which we can discuss the process and how the therapy is working for you or your child.
